Get The Diagnosis: A Database of Diagnostic Accuracy

Search:

Get The Diagnosis is a collaborative project for health professionals to share knowledge on the diagnostic value of history questions, physical exam findings, and lab and imaging tests. We encourage you to sign up and start contributing; we also encourage feedback on our site design. We are currently up to 315 diagnoses and 1133 findings, for a total of 1733 entries! Follow our newest entries in our RSS feed.

You can find out how sensitive and specific a multitude of physical exam findings and imaging tests are for each diagnosis. Take endocarditis as an example: In a patient that you think has a 50/50 chance of having endocarditis, is a negative trans-thoracic echocardiogram enough to rule out this disease? How much more helpful would a negative trans-esophageal echo have been in ruling out endocarditis? The results may surprise you!
Don't agree with what you see? Have something to add? Click on the link to review the corresponding journal article. Still not happy? You can sign up and edit the entry by either adding comments or changing things altogether.
Click here for a description of sensitivity, specificity, likelihood ratios, and pre-test and post-test probabilities. Or, click here for convenient calculators of these statistics.

Special searches: List most recent changes; all findings with unspecified accuracy (i.e. that need a citation); list diagnoses without findings; list findings with no associated diagnoses; list most prolific users.
