Pernicious Anemia: Sensitivity and Specificity

Introduction: Autoimmune attack of the parietal cells in the stomach that are responsible for producing intrinsic factor. Intrinsic factor is necessary for the absorption of vitamin B12 (cobalamin), thus its loss causes Megaloblastic Anemia.
